Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hope all of our ḰELSET families are doing well and staying healthy.

Our first week back with on-site instruction was extremely successful.  Thank you to all of you for your patience, flexibility and the trust you have put in our staff.  It was so wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm and excitement!  Our staggered lunch times have been working well and students have been enjoying their playtime

As we move through the month of June, we have several updates to pass along to you:

June Report Card

When you receive your child’s June report card, you will notice that it will look different from a typical June report. It will have similar content from March with additional comments about participation in the remote learning activities. On page two of the report card, you will find a letter from our Superintendent, Mr. Dave Eberwein explaining the report card process.  Below is an excerpt from his letter:

The Ministry of Education has indicated that students will receive a report card which documents student progress from September to March with additional comments on students’ engagement with the remote learning program. In summary, your student’s year-end report card will look very similar to the one sent home in March with additional comments about participation in the remote learning activities since spring break. The last few months have been unique in their challenges, but also exceptional because of the growth and learning that has taken place for all of us. Our district staff greatly appreciate the support of our community during this time of unprecedented change.

Picking Up Student Belongings

For those students who are continuing with remote learning and are not participating with on-site instruction, we will be scheduling Friday, June 12th and Friday, June 19th from 8:00 am-12:00 pm for supply pick-up.  We ask that families with the last name starting with A-M, pick up on June 12th and N-Z pick up on June 19th  during the times noted.  We will have a drive through system in the front of the school by the office.  Parents can drive in to our parking lot, where a staff member will greet them and request the student’s name and teacher’s name.  The staff member will gather the supplies and return them to the car.

Returning Library Books

If you have any library books or home reading books that you need to return, please drop them off in the box in front of the school starting on June 8th.  You can also drop them off when you pick up your child’s belongings on June 12th or June 19th.

Please contact your child’s teacher, Ms. Sinclair-Wise or Ms. Crocket-Moore if you have any questions.
