Happy 2014! With the New Year comes new hope and inspiration as well as opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. We are starting 2014 off by raising funds to buy Mosquito nets to help protect people in Africa from Malaria. Why? Because we can! …and because two of our students, Levi and Anya Viinikka, were inspired to spearhead this initiative, after learning about the challenges faced in Africa.

Help us make a Difference!

 Did you know…

  • malaria is a disease transmitted by an infected Anophelesmosquito bite?

  • Anopheles mosquitoes bite primarily at night?

  • 660,000 people die from malaria every year – and that 90% of these deaths are in Africa?

  • every 60 seconds a child dies from malaria?

  • at $10, a long-lasting insecticide-treated bed net is the most cost-efficient and effective way to prevent malaria and save lives?

  • 3.3 Billion People, that’s ½ the world’s population are at risk of Malaria?

Our goal is to raise a total of $4050 - as that is approximately $10 per student and staff member at our school; some families may be able to give a little more and some less, but together we hope we can raise this amount!

It’s easy to collect funds and there are lots of options for people to donate.

1. Follow the link and you can donate any amount on-line. Any donation over $25.00 will receive a tax receipt.
-or-
2. Text the KELSET keyword NETS55 to 30333 to make a $10 donation. (A $10 donation will be added to your mobile phone bill.)
-or-
3. Of course good old-fashioned Cash is always accepted.

This is the link to the official KELSET page.

This is a whole school effort; if we work together as a team we will be able to accomplish amazing things. Please consider helping us easily reach our goal. Share the information with your friends and family; post our link on your social media page (facebook and twitter). Please note: KELSET classes will also be having a friendly “spare some change, it won’t bite you” challenge between classes. Students will be collecting change in their classroom jars to add to the donations collected. (On-line, Text, and Large donations will not be added to their spare change jar or class total.)
