Dear Parents and Guardians,
The ḰELSET PAC is grateful to have the opportunity to work with families to give back to our community this holiday season.
Anawim House (www.anawimhouse.com) is a home in Victoria for the less fortunate men and women who live in our community. This home serves as a refuge for many homeless people who simply do not have a place to reside permanently. The home is a place to come for the day to clean up, shower, do laundry, learn to read, play a game, socialize as a family might, have a break from the weather or seek social help.
We are going to help make a difference in the lives of these less fortunate members of our society but we need your help by providing some of the basic essentials required to complete 100 stockings. All the children will have an opportunity to help create the stockings at school on December 11th. We will need some parent help on stocking assembly day – stay tuned for more information about how you can get involved.
This project is in its 22 nd year and has proven to be a very rewarding experience for all that are involved. Many of the recipients have never received a Christmas gift such as this. This valued learning experience needs your support to bring some light to others this Christmas.
Please find your children’s teacher(s) on the list below and send requested items (as many as you wish – we need 100 of each item) to their classroom by Monday, December 7th.

Manning - Kleenex (travel size) & adult size unisex gloves/mitts
Rose - Comb/Brush & adult size unisex gloves/mitts
Bocking/Shaw - Granola Bars (nut free) & adult size unisex gloves/mitts
Doehring/Sheridan - Juice boxes & adult size unisex gloves/mitts
Steele - Hand Sanitizer (travel size) & Gum
Underwood/Hale - Hand Sanitizer (travel size) & Bars of soap (travel or full size)
MacKinnon - Hand Sanitizer (travel size) & Deodorant (travel or full size)
St. Amand - Tooth paste (travel size) & Disposable razors
Trottier - Toothbrushes & Kleenex (travel size)
Young/Hale - Men’s Shaving Cream (travel size) & Toothbrushes
Ellison - Tooth paste (travel size) & Toothbrushes
Stewart/Rice - Men’s Shaving Cream (travel size) & Shampoo (travel size)
Postlethwaite - Tooth paste (travel size) & Juice boxes
Fawkes - Men’s Shaving Cream (travel size) & Deodorant (travel or full size)
Some tips:
- Please avoid full size shampoo, toothpaste etc. as we need to fit everything into a large zip lock bag.
- New items only, please.
- When possible, please send unisex or men’s items as at least 85% of the stockings will be for men.
- Adult size toques and gloves/mitts please. We can’t use children’s items.
- If you would prefer to send money the PAC would be happy to do your shopping for you.
With the funds from Family Games Night the PAC will be purchasing the work socks and bags necessary for this project.
If you have a connection with an organization that may be able to donate any of these items (dentist office, drug store, dollar store etc.) please consider asking if they would be willing to help us with this project.
